Both entities will be presenting panels and roundtables at the 15th edition of the event that will take place online between 2 – 17 November 2020.

The Brazilian Internet Steering Committee (CGI.br) and The Brazilian Network Information Center (NIC.br) representatives will be participating in discussions at the 15th Internet Governance Forum (IGF), which is the most important United Nations promoted event that brings together annually all stakeholders in the debate. This year’s meeting overall theme will be “Internet for human resilience and solidarity”, starting on 2 November and closing on 17 November 2020.

The IGF’s main goal is to promote a comprehensive dialogue about relevant topics on Internet governance in an international and multisectoral scope. Some of the relevant subjects that will be addressed by NIC.br and CGI.br in the 15th edition are: the scarcity of IPv4 and the implementation of IPv6; the formation of reliable data in search of the Sustainable Development Goals; the children’s rights in the Internet governance’s agenda; discussions about data privacy and mass vigilance, among other topics. Roundtables and panels will be set-up to promote the debate on the different matters.

Since 2011, CGI.br promotes the Brazilian Internet Forum (FIB), and the Brazilian Pre-IGF (FIB), part of the global national and international IGF networks. Just as in previous editions, the 2020 FIB followed the general IGF themes, connecting local discussions with its global peers. Because of the FIB’s own nature, it functions as a preparatory step for the global IGF, in the sense that it encourages the Brazilian community to participate in it.

The event will be streamed online at https://www.youtube.com/user/igf.
